Carmézia Emiliano lived the early years of her life in Maloca do Japó, Roraima. Later, as an adult living in Boa Vista, she started to reminisce about the culture of her people, the Macuxi Indigenous
people, and record it in her paintings.
She started to paint and exhibit her pieces in 1992. Since 2006, when she participated for the first time in the Bienal Naïf of Sesc Piracicaba, São Paulo, she has been selected to show work in all of its all editions and received awards for some of them. The artist has held painting workshops at Museu de Arte de São Paulo (MASP) and Sesc Pompeia, São Paulo. Her works are featured in academic materials published in Brazil and abroad.
