Lives and works between São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil, and Berlin, Germany
Noara Quintana’s research is centered on the materiality of everyday objects and the index of historic relationships she carries from the Global South. Through installation and sculpture, she points to economic exchanges, architectonic shapes, and narratives that are contrary to the legacy of a colonial imaginary.
She graduated in Visual Arts from Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC) and has a master’s degree in Visual Arts from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP). She has participated in several artist-in-residence programs and exhibitions, such as: FAAP Artist Residency, 2018; Pivô Pesquisa, 2021; Iminência de Tragédia, FUNARTE, 2018, São Paulo; Desterro Desaterro, MASC, 2018, Florianópolis; Cuando No Hay Sombra Es Mediodía, Kiosko Galeria, 2021, Santa Cruz, Bolivia; and Restitution, Savvy Contemporary, 2021, Berlin. In 2017, she was awarded by the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), through the Daniel & Nina Carasso
Foundation, Paris, and in 2020, she was a laureate of the Institut Français in their artist-in-residence program at the Cité Internationale des Arts.
